About OptRail – Integrated Railway Switches & Crossings Predictive Maintenance

What is OptRail Prototype Product?

OptRail is an integrated end-end remote monitoring solution for predictive maintenance of railways switches and crossings (S&C) in particular to identify train loads and its impact on void and crack growth in rail infrastructure.

Who benefits from OptRail?

Red Zone working is eliminated through accurate monitoring & knowledge of asset condition and improves safety of railway maintainers (less frequent visual inspections). This helps with asset life extension, reduces corrective maintenance and associated delays to services, hence benefitting the rail passengers and the nation’s economy. Costs are reduced due to optimised predictive maintenance.

OptRail innovative and underlying Technologies:

We have developed new components including low-cost sensor clamps, new RCM cabinet, algorithms based on Digital Twin and AI techniques, accurate prediction of void/crack growth using precise FBG technology that’s immune from EM noise.
